  Our Pastor

On the 3rd Sunday of June, 1954, twelve residents from the new community of Rolling Meadows gathered together in one of their homes to worship God.  No church had yet been established in this area.  Eight months after that first "worship" service experience, on the 3rd Sunday in February 1955, 263 people gathered in The Barn - and thus began The Community Church of Rolling Meadows.

Having come from many different theological backgrounds, those initial believers wanted to focus on the things that they held in common.  While submitting to no ecclesiastical authority, they sought cordial relations with all Christian Churches/Denominations.  They wanted to worship God and affirm their faith in Jesus Christ.  They accepted the Bible as their rule and guide.

Today The Community Church of Rolling Meadows still exists around those tenets.  We no longer meet in The Barn, but in a beautiful building on the corner of Kirchoff and Meadow roads.  But while our original location may have changed, our vision has not.  We still exist to worship God through our faith in Jesus Christ.

In July 2001, I became this congregation's 5th pastor, having served churches in Indiana, Florida, Pennsylvania, and New York.  My educational studies include a Doctor of Ministry degree from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary; a Master of Theological Studies degree from Princeton Theological Seminary; and a Master of Divinity degree from Gordon-Conwell.

My wife, Kathy, and I have 5 grown children.

On behalf of our congregation, we invite you to stop by and visit with us and ask any questions that you might have.   We would love to have you join us at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday mornings.  The Lord is doing something exciting here at Community Church!

Blessings,

Rande Wayne Smith
