Our History

It was March of 1955 when the Reverend Earl Hibbard began a visitation program to meet families interested in the formation of a Community Church in Rolling Meadows. In April of that year, 13 families met with the new minister, the Reverend S. Nelson Ringsmuth, to begin plans for the birth of a new church in our city

Although worship services were held for several months in one of the model homes of the community, the church was actually "Born in a Barn" when its Charter was opened for membership on February 20, 1955. When, at the end of that year, our Sunday School enrollment totaled 398 children, it became obvious that we were soon to outgrow the Barn

An Educational Building was completed for us in September of 1957, and when word came that the Barn was to be torn down in October of 1958, our worship services were moved to the Educational Building.

It was not until November 22, 1959, after completion of the present Portal Building, that our entire church family, from nursery youngsters through senior high, worshipped together at the same time on our church grounds at Meadow Drive and Kirchoff. This was the second phase of our building program.

Our Sanctuary, the third phase of our plan, is now completed. This was dedicated in September of 1965 again continuing our firm witness to our belief in Jesus Christ and His way of life for ourselves and our community.

FROM THAT HUMBLE BEGINNING

From that humble beginning our church was born,
From the Love of the people and the Lord,
From that old wooden barn came the words of the Lord,
That still lead and guide us on our way.
As we worship today may we all feel His presence
And sing His Praise, Glory Alleluia.
In the days yet to come, let our hearts rejoice,
Thanks to God Almighty for that old Red Barn.

From that humble beginning this church now stands
As the symbol of God and all His Love.
From His words we get strength for our journey through life,
Have Faith and through Faith we'll have life everlasting.
And peace of mind all our days here on earth.
Bless our Church, Hear our Prayer,
How our Hearts rejoice,
Thanks to God Almighty for that Old Red Barn.
