The origins of Community Church’s Annual Corn fest can be traced back
to what began as a small backyard cookout among a few church families
around 1955. A year later , a couple of members of Community church
observed a community corn boil while on vacation, and brought back the
idea of having Community Church sponsor something similar in Rolling
Meadows. In Aug. 1957 the first official Community Church Corn Fest was
born. Through the years some
things may have changed- the styles of clothes are different; cooking procedures have
significantly improved; the big yellow and white tent was added in the late 1980’s, and
a craft fair in the late 1990’s. The menu however, has remained virtually the same- A
hamburger or hotdog, drink, watermelon and all the fresh picked boiled and buttered sweet
corn you can eat! The most important thing that has remained throughout the years has been
the opportunity for the members of Community Church to reach beyond its walls to the
community of Rolling Meadows for a wonderful day of food, fun and fellowship. We have been blessed with over 50 years of wonderful memories and success thanks to our Lord and savior, and we look forward to continuing what has become not only a very special Community church tradition, but also a much anticipated community-wide event!
Please join us this year, on August 2nd. The fest opens at 11:00am and runs until 7:00pm. Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for seniors, and $5 for children under the age of 10 years old. A ticket buys you a hamburger or hotdog, pop, a slice of watermelon and all the delicious, fresh sweet corn you can eat!
While you're there, visit our Craft Fair. Many area crafters have already signed up to join us for this annual event.
